Seward County Libertarian Party to Host 3rd Annual Nebraska Liberty Fest on June 1st

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

5/21/2024

The Seward County Libertarian Party will host the 3rd Annual Liberty Fest on Saturday, June 1, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The event features Libertarian speakers including former Nebraska State Senator Laura Ebke. There will also be a shooting range in the morning and entertainment in the early evening.

"We are here to celebrate liberty and break down echo chambers," said Dave Kendle of the Seward County Libertarian Party.

2023 Nebraska Liberty Fest with 2020 Libertarian Vice Presidential Candidate Spike Cohen, center.

Ebke hopes to attract people across the political spectrum to the event.

“Nebraska Liberty Fest is a great way to build camaraderie among folks who love liberty, regardless of party registration,” Ebke said.

The first year of the event in 2022 State Senator Anna Wishart spoke about legalizing medical cannabis. Also that year, criminal defense attorney Dick Clark spoke on Second Amendment rights, showing that even during politically polarized times people can still find common ground in individual liberties. Last year, 2020 Libertarian Vice Presidential Candidate Spike Cohen gave a speech on the importance of advocating for freedom. Cohen is also the founder of You Are the Power which uses localized, single-issue activism to advocate for individual rights in local communities.

Nebraska Liberty Fest is co-hosted by the Seward County and Lancaster County Libertarian Party.

Event highlights this year include a shooting range in the morning with a range-safety officer present, food, cash bar, and kids activities. Ebke will hold a discussion including an open forum with the audience. Nebraska residents are welcome to purchase raffle tickets for the chance to win an AK Draco. The evening will conclude with live music by local Lincoln bands including Frailin’ Hearts.

“Nebraska needs more opportunities for people who have political interests to just get together, learn a little, and enjoy one another’s company for a few hours,” Ebke said.

The entry fee is $35 per vehicle so it's beneficial to bring family and friends to the event together. All are welcome -- you don't need to be a libertarian to attend. Liberty Fest is located at 1699 Bluff Road, Garland, NE.

"We're here to promote liberty, pure and simple, wherever that freedom message comes from, whether it's left, right, moderate, or libertarian," Kendle said.

*We may have the 2024 Libertarian Presidential Nominee at Liberty Fest, yet will not know for sure until after the Libertarian National Convention over Memorial Day weekend.*
